The tonnage selection of a press brake depends on your actual processing needs. These include the material type, the maximum sheet thickness, and the maximum sheet length. Based on these three factors, you can determine the basic model selection for the press brake.

You can refer to the following 6 steps to select the right press brake type:

  1. Define your bending requirements, such as material type, thickness, length, and daily output.
  2. Choose the appropriate tonnage based on material type and thickness. For example, a 6mm carbon steel plate can use a 120-ton press brake.
  3. Determine the table length according to your material length and workshop space. It is recommended to leave a margin of 300–500mm.
  4. Choose the drive type. For thick plates, use a hydraulic drive. For higher precision, choose an electro-hydraulic servo synchronous drive. For thin sheets only, choose an electric press brake. Maintenance for the hydraulic press brake mainly covers the following five areas:

  1. Hydraulic system – This mainly refers to the hydraulic oil. We recommend that you check the oil level daily to make sure it is not too low. You should also pay attention to oil quality, oil change intervals, and filter element replacement.
  2. Lubrication system – Check the lubrication condition of moving parts such as guide rails, ball screws, and the ram. This helps prevent wear.
  3. Bending tools – We recommend cleaning the tool surfaces every day. Check the tools weekly for any signs of wear.
  4. Scale cleaning – Clean the surface of the linear scale every month. Prevent dust and oil from blocking the reading.
  5. Machine leveling – After one year of operation, the foundation may settle. This is normal. However, you need to adjust the machine level in time to correct it. This prevents inconsistent bending angles.
